The 4th edition of the Fashion Week in Havana, under the motto ArtesanĂa e Identidad (Identity and Craft), will take place November 20-24 at the Cuba Pavilion. This time, the cultural event will be dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Havana and the 40th anniversary of the Cuban Fund of Cultural Assets (FCBC) and Trinidad, declared World Craft City this year.
Organized by the FCBC, the Fashion Week is also sponsored by the AHS (Saiz Brothers Association) and the Cuban Artists Artisan Association. One of its goals is to contribute with the better understanding of the concept of fashion among Cubans as well as strengthening the unity among the members of the organization.
Foreign designers and specialists will be present; not to mention the Cuban artists from Havana, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Villa Clara, Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Avila, Granma, and Santiago de Cuba, who decided to attend as well.
Eight fashion shows will take place at 20:00 hrs each day except for Saturday when it will kick off at 16:00 hrs. All of them will be addressed to kids with free admission.
In the words of Mercy Correa, national director of Craft in the FCBC, the Fashion Week promotes the idea of Cuban people dressing better while understanding the appropriate clothes to wear depending on circumstances. The Fashion Week is the precursor of the 25th International Craft Fair (FIART).
